Passengers will soon be able to pay bus fares using a card, Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena has announced.
The Deputy Minister said the initiative is part of the Sri Lanka Transport Board’s (SLTB) ongoing efforts to modernise public transport services and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.
He noted that the key objectives of the programme are to enhance the quality of bus services, provide greater convenience to commuters and strengthen the SLTB’s competitiveness with private bus operators.
Gunasena added that the introduction of modern electronic payment methods represents a significant step towards modernising the country’s public transport system and making daily travel more efficient and convenient for passengers.
