Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today rejected a bail application filed on behalf of Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero, the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) organization.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court sentenced Gnanasara Thero to nine months in prison for his defamatory statements about the religion of Islam. Despite filing an appeal against the sentence, his attorneys had requested bail until the appeal hearing and the final decision was announced. However, the court denied this request.
The case remains under legal review as the appeal process continues.
