With President Anura Kumara Dissanayake departing for a State Visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, five acting ministers have been appointed to oversee key ministries under the President’s purview, the President’s Media Division (PMD) announced.
Acting ministers have been assigned to three ministries directly under the President—namely, the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development. Additionally, temporary appointments have been made for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, as well as the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation.
The acting ministers appointed are:
- Digital Economy: Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne
- Defence: Deputy Minister Aruna Jayasekera
- Finance, Planning, and Economic Development: Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando
- Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism: Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra
- Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation: Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Kumara Gunasena
These appointments ensure the continuity of governance and oversight during President Dissanayake’s official engagement in China.
