The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers across most parts of the island during the afternoon or night today.
Additionally, showers are expected in the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning.
Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Ampara District.
Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-Central provinces during the morning hours.
The public is kindly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka from April 5 to 14.
Today (April 7), the sun will be directly overhead at approximately 12:12 noon in the areas of Colombo, Awissawella, Talawakelle, Dimbula, Galakumbura, and Dambagalla.
