Major General Chandana Wickremasinghe has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, with his tenure set to commence on February 9, 2025.
A distinguished officer from the Gajaba Regiment, Major General Wickremasinghe previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS), the third-highest position in the Army, assuming duties on January 2, 2025.
Before this, he held the role of Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, where he showcased exceptional leadership and operational expertise. He also continues to serve as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gajaba Regiment, reflecting his steadfast dedication to the Army and its personnel.
