Prominent Sri Lankan industrialist and businessman Deshamanya Harry Jayawardena has passed away at the age of 82.
Jayawardena, the chairman of Melstacorp PLC, also served as the Honorary Consul General for Denmark in Sri Lanka. Recognized as one of Sri Lanka’s richest individuals by Forbes, he played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s corporate landscape.
He previously chaired the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka and Aitken Spence, making history as the leader of the first Sri Lankan companies to be listed among Forbes’ best-managed firms outside the USA.
