Warm Weather Advisory Issued for Several Areas Tomorrow

The Meteorology Department has issued a Warm Weather Advisory for the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Western, Eastern, and Southern provinces, as well as the Ratnapura and Monaragala districts.

According to the advisory, the Heat Index—which represents the temperature felt by the human body—is expected to rise to the ‘Caution’ level in some areas tomorrow (20).

Under the Caution level, prolonged exposure and physical activity may lead to fatigue, while continuous exertion could result in heat cramps.

Public Advisory:
Stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.
Limit strenuous outdoor activities as much as possible.
Check on the elderly and sick to ensure their well-being.
Never leave children unattended inside vehicles.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing to reduce heat absorption.
The Heat Index Forecast is calculated based on relative humidity and maximum temperature, reflecting the actual sensation on the human body rather than the forecasted temperature. This advisory is generated using global numerical weather prediction models.
