The Kaduwela Municipal Council has banned low-lying land reclamation and activities such as soil washing and sanding to mitigate flooding risks from the Kelani Ganga.
These measures were finalized during a Regional Development Committee meeting held at the Kaduwela Divisional Secretariat.
As part of immediate efforts to address the issue, work has already commenced on strengthening the banks of the Kelani Ganga to provide a short-term solution to potential flooding challenges.
