Over 4,400 Local Observers to Monitor Sri Lanka’s Upcoming Local Authorities Elections

Sri Lanka’s upcoming Local Authorities Elections will be monitored by approximately 4,450 local election observers, according to leading election monitoring organizations.

The People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) will deploy nearly 3,000 observers, including more than 800 mobile observers, confirmed Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi.

The Campaign for Free & Fair Election (CAFE) will contribute 1,250 observers, according to its Executive Director Manas Makeen.

Additionally, the Institute for Democratic Reforms and Electoral Studies (IRES) will field 200 observers, supported by 50 mobile observation vehicles, said Executive Director Manjula Gajanayake.

No international observers will be participating in this election cycle, making it a fully domestically monitored process.
