In Parliament today, United National Party Deputy Leader, MP Ravi Karunanayake, raised concerns about the ongoing power outages across Sri Lanka and the issues plaguing the country’s electricity sector.
However, the Minister responsible for the matter was not present in Parliament to respond. Instead, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, the Chief Organizer of the government, stood in and informed the House that the Minister of Power and Energy would address the issue later this week.
During the discussion, MP Karunanayake emphasized that the matter was of national importance and mentioned that Sri Lanka had drawn global attention due to an incident involving a monkey.
In response, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa remarked, “The board’s officials are working on finding a solution to the instability in the electricity system. The monkey incident is now over. Please, do not keep bringing up the monkey incident. We are now focused on resolving the instability in the electricity system.”
