The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Matale, Nuwara Eliya, and Hambantota districts today (12).
Additionally, showers or thundershowers are expected in several other areas during the afternoon or night.
The department also warned that fairly heavy showers of around 75mm could occur in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces.
The public is advised to take precautions against possible damages caused by localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
